Co-Founder & Engineer P.E.

Jasen Sappenfield

SOLIDWORKS® certified, KCSWUGN leader, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) specialist. Expert in AutoCAD®, SOLIDWORKS®, Autodesk Inventor Nastran®, and Creo CAD packages. Specializes in engineering calculations and FEA.

As co-founder of Finite, Jasen Sappenfield believes that the company stands out through its well-developed process. Although clients may only require new product development every year or two, Finite is experienced with taking hundreds of businesses through the process, step by step.

Sappenfield has had the benefit of watching every project Finite  has ever worked on go from a concept to a finished product. A favorite project, Freestyle, required the team to create a modern design for a theme park ride.

It’s easy for Jasen to recognize the qualities of excellent engineering in his teammates. He is proud of the Finite team for their patience, determination, curiosity, and innovation, and looks forward to the next phase of Finite’s history.

Project Lead Engineer

Adam Jeffries, P.E.

Project management, piping systems design, FEA analysis, DFSS Green Belt. Specializes in petrochemical and process piping systems. Certified SOLIDWORKS® Associate. Holds Smartsheet Core Product Certification.

Although Adam Jeffries began his career in corporate settings, he eventually realized he wanted something different.

Working with Finite means getting to be more intimately involved in projects and with clients and getting to see how his efforts solve problems for clients. Adam says the most enjoyable part of the job is the challenge of trying to figure out a solution that someone else hasn’t already tried. As for the best skill he brings to the company, Adam says it’s his tendency to have his head in the clouds. He is always looking at the big picture and asking “why.”

Project Lead Engineer

Bill Baker, P.E.

4 U.S. patents awarded. Structural weldment design, hydraulic systems, electronic controls, 3D parametric modeling. FMEA & FEA trainer. Patent application management.

Bill Baker’s earliest encounters with engineering concepts happened on the family farm when he was growing up. He went on to pursue a drafting track in high school until he thought to ask the question, “Who tells the drafter what to draft?”

Bill decided to become an engineer and, following graduation, he grew his expertise in areas like conveyor lines, animations, and troubleshooting. When asked what he appreciates about working at Finite, Bill says that he enjoys the variety of projects and getting to work closely with clients.

Project Engineer, Senior Analyst, Tank and Pressure Vessel Expert

Brian Mills, P.E.

Expert in Autodesk Inventor Nastran® and COMPRESS software. Resident specialist for tank design, pressure vessel engineering, and structural analysis. Specializes in DOT compliance, ASME Section VIII, API standards (API-650, API-620), pressure vessel validation, and complex mechanical system analysis. DOT Design Certifying Engineer (DCE), NCEES Model Law Engineer.

As a student growing up near Springfield, Missouri, Brian Mills loved math and mechanical projects. After decades of working in manufacturing, Brian brings unique expertise to the Finite team. He specializes in pressure vessel process tanks and leads the team’s finite element analysis (FEA) portion of the business. Brian says that working at Finite is exciting because every employee is focused on making projects successful for the client.

Project Engineer, Lead Design Engineer

Nate Heim

Complex assembly modeling, crane design, aerospace applications, railway maintenance equipment. AutoCAD®, SOLIDWORKS®, Autodesk Inventor Nastran®, and Creo specialist.

Nate Heim loved taking things apart as a kid, which naturally led him to a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Kansas, specializing in aerospace engineering. Although he wasn’t sure which kind of engineering he wanted to do, he did know that he wanted to work for a smaller company, which led him to Finite.

Nate’s areas of expertise include working with CAD modeling and coming up with designs. He also excels in conceptual development. Nate says that Finite is special because the team offers clients a variety of perspectives to demonstrate possibilities for engineering.

Lead Analyst

Matt Mullet

Expert in Abaqus, AutoCAD®, SOLIDWORKS®, and Autodesk Inventor Nastran®. Specializes in complex assembly modeling, structural analysis, and mechanical system design.
